Heins Creek Nature Preserve Trails Finished

The newest addition to the portfolio of Door County Land Trust’s nature preserves is now open to the public. Heins Creek Nature Preserve features a landscape of grassy and wooded dunes, northern mesic forest, and Heins Creek itself, which teems with trout in the springtime.

Visitors will find the preserve a joy to walk, with a trail just less than one mile long. Trail markers and a small parking area make visiting the preserve easy and accessible for members and the public alike.

The preserve parking area is located between Baileys Harbor and Jacksonport, on the east side of Highway 57, just north of Heins Creek. Visit doorcountylandtrust.org for information about other DCLT nature preserves on the peninsula. There is also a story in the Peninsula Pulse about DCLT members taking a hike in July at the site, before it was open to the public.
