High Schoolers Invited to Audition for “The Laramie Project”

Auditions will be held for the StageKids production of The Laramie Project on Dec. 12 at noon and Dec. 15 at 5 pm. The Laramie Project is a play about the real-life events surrounding the murder of Matthew Shephard, a gay University of Wyoming student. It caught the attention of the world and sparked a debate about the need for hate crime legislation. The play draws on hundreds of interviews conducted by actors from a New York theater company with inhabitants of the town, company members’ own journal entries, and published news reports.

Auditions are open to all Door County high school students. The Laramie Project will rehearse in April and May, and it will be performed May 7 – 9. If interested in auditioning, call 920.743.1760 or email [email protected]. Leave a message with your name, phone number and email address. Please indicate which date you are planning to audition.
