HOPE is Not Lost

As of Dec. 31, 2013, We Are HOPE Inc., a partner of Door-Tran, discontinued the Door County Transportation Options Program (DCTOP), which provided Door and Kewaunee County residents with zero percent interest vehicle purchase or repair loans. In addition to HOPE’s decision, also came a change in funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to operate such a program. As requests for services continued, Door-Tran worked with HOPE and Door County to research options and funding opportunities to continue a similar program.

By February it was confirmed that Door-Tran would receive partial FTA and WisDOT funding through Door County to launch a Vehicle Purchase/Repair Program. Since the recent program launch, funds have also been received from the United Way of Door County Inc., and the Women’s Fund of Door County. “Without the local and state support, this program would not have remained in our community,” said Pam Busch, Door-Tran’s Mobility Manager. Funds will assist with the purchase or repair of vehicles for Door County residents who are employed at least 20 hours per week and pass driving and income assessments.
