Humane Society’s Saving Pets Challenge

The Door County Humane Society is counting on you! Since May 2, DCHS has been competing in the national Saving Pets Challenge. This challenge consists of hundreds of animal welfare organizations competing to see who can raise the most money for their cause in 30 days. During each week of the Saving Pets Challenge there are mini-challenges that act as fun incentives for individuals to donate to their preferred animal welfare group. The first week’s mini-challenge took place May 2 – May 9, and the group that raised the most money during the week won a $3,000 bonus prize. The results from the first mini-challenge were bittersweet for DCHS. During most of the day on Tuesday DCHS remained in first place, but at the last minute a big, Houston-based organization swept in to win the bonus money. “While it’s never easy to lose, the great news in all of this is that we truly have amazing supporters,” stated Communications and Development Coordinator April Delfosse. “To be able to raise $45,902 in a matter of days is absolutely phenomenal, and is definitive proof of how generous the Door County community is and how much they believe in DCHS.”

The Saving Pets Challenge is not over, though. DCHS will continue to compete from now until June 1 to raise even more. The organization’s goal is to raise more than $100,000 and place in the top five at the end of the Challenge where additional bonus prizes are up for grabs. To donate simply go to doorcountyhumanesociety.org and click the red square button that says DONATE, found on the right-hand side of the screen. Please remember that all donations must be given online in order for them to count to DCHS’s grand total. To follow the organization’s progress and ranking go to crowdrise.com/savingpetschallenge.
