“I Love A Piano” Continues at TAP through Oct. 18

Irving Berlin’s I Love A Piano is playing at Third Avenue Playhouse through Oct. 18.

I Love A Piano is a musical cavalcade celebrating the early years of one of America’s most beloved songwriters. Featuring almost 50 Irving Berlin songs, the show includes a number of unknown rarities as well as all-time classics such as “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Play a Simple Melody,” “Say it With Music,” “When That Midnight Choo-Choo Leaves for Alabam,” and of course “I Love a Piano.”

As conceived and directed by TAP’s co-Artistic Director James Valcq, I Love A Piano paints a picture of American life in the early 20th century. Moving from the ethnic melting pot of New York’s lower east side to Vaudeville stages, the rise of ragtime, World War, I and the Ziegfeld Follies, Berlin’s songs reflect how Americans felt, how they worked, and how they played.

This all-singing, all-dancing show will be performed by a cast including Valcq, TAP’s artist in residence Katherine Duffy, TAP Artistic Associate Ryan Patrick Shaw, and newcomer Cynthia Cobb, an actress with many credits at theaters in Milwaukee and Chicago.

Performances from Wednesday to Saturday begin at 7:30 pm, and Sunday performances begin at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 general admission, $10 students (12-24), and $5 child (11 and under). For tickets and more information, call 920.743.1760, visit ThirdAvenuePlayhouse.com, or stop by the box office at 234 N. 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
