Idea Gallery Hosts Artist Demos and Workshops

Idea Gallery will host three sets of artist demonstrations and workshops. The demonstrations are open to the public; workshops require registration and a fee. All workshop materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary.

Oil painter Jeff Boutin of Minnesota will present the first demonstration June 29, 1-3 pm; and workshop June 30, 12-4 pm. He uses a palette knife and is known for his bold use of color and expressive, impasto technique that’s reminiscent of Van Gogh.

Milwaukee printmaker Barbara Manger will offer the second demonstration Aug. 24, 1-3 pm; and workshop Aug. 25, 12-4 pm. Her richly layered works explore the wonderful world of nature, and her workshop will use a hand-rolled printing press to incorporate many natural materials.

Painter and collage artist Wendell Arneson, a professor emeritus at St. Olaf College, will present the third demonstration Aug. 11, 1-3 pm; and workshop Sept. 8, 12-4 pm. An ever-popular instructor, Arneson will explore collage techniques and processes.
