Jim Paterson Named ReStore Volunteer of the Year

Jim Paterson was recently named Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity ReStore Volunteer of the Year. Paterson is a retired Sturgeon Bay High School teacher who has volunteered with Door County Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore for five years. Several years ago, Paterson volunteered on and even helped to supervise the construction of new Habitat homes. When the ReStore opened in 2009, he saw a new opportunity to support the organization’s affordable housing programs.

Paterson is a nearly permanent fixture at the ReStore’s busiest day of the week – Saturday; since 2010 he has contributed more than 645 hours. Having been with the ReStore almost since it first opened in 2009, he is knowledgeable about how the ReStore works and where to find particular items for a wide variety of customers.
