Joe Falout in “Afternoon with the Artist”

“Grand Haven Sunset,” by Joe Falout.

Blue Dolphin House and BDH Studio are pleased to have Joe Falout as part of the “Afternoon with the Artist” Series on Thursday, July 15 in the Gardens.

Falout has been involved with photography since 1980, beginning as a hobbyist producing color slides for Chicago area camera club competitions. Over time, he became committed to the creative aspects of fine art printing, working with both 35mm and medium format equipment. His photographic palette covers a wide variety of materials and techniques.

Falout is primarily interested in graphic isolation of elements in architectural photography and the production of full tonal range under dramatic lighting conditions, drifting occasionally toward abstract or impressionistic images. He will at times add subtle color by hand tinting select works.

Falout has lectured throughout the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (CACCA), and his work may be found in many private collections throughout the United States and abroad. He is currently represented by Door County’s Blue Dolphin House Studio in Ephraim and an active volunteer at the Hardy Gallery.

The “Afternoon with the Artist” demonstrations and exhibitions at Blue Dolphin House and BDH Studio are open to the public and free of charge. Blue Dolphin House is located on the northern end of Ephraim at 10320 N. Water Street, Highway 42. For more information call 920-854-4113 or visit http://www.bluedolphinhouse.com.
