Letter to the Editor: Renew Your Commitment to United Way

I retired from Door County Medical Center in late 2016. While I was employed there, I participated in the hospital’s workplace giving program to support the mission and goals of United Way of Door County. Like many who retire and lose the easy option of workplace giving, I let my charitable giving slide for a bit.

In 2019, I made a pledge to become a member of the Leadership Circle with United Way: individuals whose gifts are at least $500 annually or companies that donate at least $700 annually. I have maintained that commitment in 2020 and expect to in years to come.

I appeal to those of you who are retired and may have supported United Way agencies through your former employer’s annual campaign to consider renewing your commitment to this organization. As a member of the board of directors of our Door County United Way, I can assure you that the work being done by its staff and funded partners – local nonprofits that receive United Way grants – is critical to the wellbeing of people throughout our community!

If you’re not familiar with the programs United Way of Door County provides and supports, please visit unitedwaydc.com. You can donate electronically on this website or download a pledge form to mail in. If you want a pledge form mailed to you, call the office at 920.746.9645.

Now is the time to help United Way make life better for our Door County residents! Please join me in supporting the 2020 annual campaign.
