Letter to the Editor: What I’m For

In response to your editorial urging readers to speak about what we are for, I offer this:

I am for a community that honors the truth of every speaker. I am for science-based decision-making. I am for communities taking the lead in providing health care, education and public infrastructure. I am for relieving employers from providing health insurance to their employees. I am for public safety as the combined effort of health, education and law enforcement. I am for a justice system that promotes restoration over retribution. I am for political leaders who place public service over personal power. I am for allowing individuals to thrive according to their own pursuits. I am for honoring each individual as a unique expression of creation. I am for community as the structure that empowers individuals to express their uniqueness. 

And I am for chocolate-chip ice cream.
