Stephanee and Jim McGowan, Algoma, are the parents of a son beon on Nov. 5, 2014, at Ministry Door County Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. Maternal grandparents are Marlee and Nick Edlebeck, Forestville, and Kevin Strandell, Algoma. Paternal grandparent is Michael McGowan, Marinette.

Elizabeth “Betty” Florence Bauldry, 90, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, died Nov. 22, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Paducah, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial is being planned for Nov. 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Huehns Funeral Home of Sturgeon Bay is assisting the Bauldry family with arrangements. Everett William Roberts, 83, of the town of Sevastopol, died Nov. 20, 2014, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay with his family at his side. Robert “Bob” Shefchik
March 15, 1945 – Nov. 18, 2014
Robert “Bob” Shefchik, 69, of Sturgeon Bay and formerly of Kewaunee, a devoted husband, proud father, and doting grandfather, died peacefully on Nov. 18, 2014, after a five-year battle with pancreatic cancer. On March 31, 1978, he married Susan Lee Hessel in Kewaunee. Bob spent his career at Kewaunee Fabrication where he progressed from a shop welder to purchasing manager, retiring in 2008. Julie Hanks
Feb. 2, 1966 – Nov. 18, 2014
Julie Hanks, 48, of Sturgeon Bay, died unexpectedly at her home on Nov. 18, 2014. She was born on February 2, 1966, in Wild Rose, Wis. Julie went to Southern Door High School. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness and her faith and hope for a better future was the center point of her life. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sturgeon Bay. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm at Kingdom Hall.
John L. Hammel
Nov. 15, 1923 – Nov. 14, 2014
John L. Hammel, 90, of Sturgeon Bay and formerly of Waukesha, died Nov. 14, 2014, at Golden Living Center/Dorchester, where he had resided following a short illness. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII, from 1941-1946, and was a Purple Heart recipient, decorated after fighting in the famous Battle of the Bulge and suffering traumatic injury. He built his retirement home in Door County himself, even with two prosthetic legs showing what determination can accomplish. Private family services will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
