Linden Centre Receives More Recognition

Travel + Leisure magazine has selected the Linden Centre as the recipient of the 2010 Global Vision award. For the past six years, this award has recognized the outstanding efforts of individuals and organizations that are working hard to preserve the world’s natural and man-made treasures.

The Linden Centre, owned and operated by Brian and Jeanne Linden of the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, prides itself on the dedication and devotion to highlighting the local culture and tradition of the Bai people. For the past 18 months the Linden Centre has been redefining what the tourism industry in China can and should be. With individual custom tours, or a themed package, guests leave with an indelible impression of the surrounding Yunnan countryside, and her people.

The Linden Centre was also chosen for this award to recognize their unprecedented access to a nationally recognized and protected heritage site. This would not have been accomplished without Brian and Jeanee Linden’s persistence and patience in negotiations with the local government. The cooperation and assistance of the local government was crucial in transforming an intangible dream into a tangible reality.

Amongst the judges for the award are Nobel Laureate in Economics, Joseph Stiglitz, Oscar award-winning director of The Cove, Louie Psihoyos, and president of the World Monuments’ Fund, Bonnie Burnham.
