A linesman was injured Monday afternoon as he worked on power lines between Baileys Harbor and Sister Bay.
The 27-year-old was working on power lines near the AC Tap when he was injured at 4:19 pm. The man was unconscious and receiving CPR from co-workers when first responders arrived from Sister Bay six minutes later, and he was transported from the scene at 4:29 pm. He was transported to Green Bay by an Eagle III helicopter at 4:55 pm.
The man was working for a subcontractor of Wisconsin Public Service when the injury occurred. Spokesperson Matt Cullen confirmed that an employee working for a WPS subcontractor was injured while performing upgrades to its electric-distribution system.
Door County EMS Director Aaron LeClair said injuries related to electric shock are extremely rare occurrences for his department to encounter.
“I remember less than a handful in my time here,” he said. “These are very traumatic injuries when they occur. That’s extremely dangerous work.”
