Live Music: Marty Stuart at DCA, Florian Ends Season With Party

MARTY STUART BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

Grammy Award–winning singer and songwriter Marty Stuart – along with his Fabulous Superlatives – will perform at Door Community Auditorium after a wildly successful appearance there in 2021.

Stuart has played alongside masters including Johnny Cash and Lester Flatt, who discovered him; been a worldwide ambassador for Nashville; and safeguarded valuable traditions and artifacts (he owns an assortment of Johnny Cash’s black boots, for example). Sharp, rollicking and relevant, Stuart is at once a music historian, a visionary artist and one of the best live performers on the circuit today.

Stuart will perform Oct. 22, 7 pm. Tickets are $55-75, but special “Big Chief” tickets are also available for $200. The Big Chief VIP Package includes tickets in a VIP seating area; admission to a private, preshow event at the venue featuring a two-song performance and Q&A session by Marty and the Superlatives; a VIP laminated lanyard; crowd-free merchandise shopping; and an 8 x 10 personalized photo.

Purchase tickets online at dcauditorium.org, by phone at 920.868.2728 or at the box office, 3926 Hwy 42 in Fish Creek.

DAHL LAUNCHES KICKSTARTER TO FUND NEW ALBUM

Door County singer/songwriter Katie Dahl has launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign for her new album, Seven Stones

A nationally touring folk songwriter based year-round in Baileys Harbor, Dahl recorded Seven Stones in the San Francisco Bay Area with Julie Wolf – known for her work with Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls and Carly Simon – as producer. The album features 11 new songs that touch on Dahl’s experiences of body image, friendship, grief and queerness, among other topics.

Seven Stones features an all-star folk/acoustic lineup, including Peter Mulvey, Kris Delmhorst and Eliza Gilkyson. Dahl expects the total recording and promotional costs to exceed $45,000 and is hoping to raise at least $40,000 of that amount through her all-or-nothing Kickstarter campaign, which runs through Oct. 25. It will compensate donors with a variety of rewards, ranging from copies of the new album to private house concerts.
