Mavis Staples, Jayhawks, Etheridge Coming to Door County Auditorium

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) is pleased to announce its 2015 performance schedule. Door County’s premier year-round music venue will present an eclectic variety of concerts this summer and fall, including national touring legends, beloved local performers, and music that runs the gamut from fiery fiddle tunes to introspective folk to straight-up rock and roll.

“It’s always exciting to announce a new season, but I’m particularly pleased with this one,” says DCA Executive Director Cari Lewis. “We were able to book a few artists that we’ve been pursuing for a few years, and that always feels good.”

DCA kicks off the season June 14 with a CD release concert by popular Door County folksinger Katie Dahl, accompanied by Memphis multi-instrumentalist Eric Lewis. After that, the DCA season is off and running, beginning with the lively Texican rock beats of Los Lonely Boys (June 18), the powerful gospel-soul of Mavis Staples (June 23), and the smoky rock and roll of Melissa Etheridge (June 29). July begins with introspective indie-folk outfit Field Report (July 9), then a rollicking tribute to 1950s rock and roll in A Night to Remember (July 11). Legendary country fiddler Charlie Daniels will perform with his band on July 19, followed by a double feature of dynamic Virginia string band The Steel Wheels and Grammy Award-winning American songster Dom Flemons (July 23).

On July 31, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band will bring their trademark blend of blues, folk, and rock to DCA, followed by gritty singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle on August 2. Next come impossibly tight folk harmonies from The Wailin’ Jennys (Aug. 9) and buoyant roots-rock from The Jayhawks (Aug. 24).

Fall 2015 will see DCA’s first-ever karaoke event, Scaryoke (Oct. 31) and a concert of funky, bluesy country from The Wood Brothers (Nov. 5). To celebrate the holiday season, DCA will present the “raw and aching beauty” of choral group Cantus, performing Voices of Christmas on Nov. 28, and a variety of beloved local performers in Play it Forward for the Holidays on Dec. 19. Over the winter, DCA presents “masters of the fiddle” Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy (Feb. 13), high-energy street dance performers in Blaze the Show, and its popular annual winter lecture/concert/film series.

DCA will also feature two long-term events this season. In August, DCA once again hosts the Peninsula Music Festival (Aug. 4-22). And in the fall, Northern Sky Theater (formerly AFT) returns to DCA’s stage, with Lumberjacks in Love (Sept. 4-Oct. 17). DCA also hosts various community concerts throughout the season, including a performance by the 5 Milers on June 27.

DCA will also unveil several new improvements in their sound and lighting systems for the 2015 season. Says Lewis, “We’re proud of some sound and lighting upgrades that will improve the concert going experience significantly. These upgrades include a new sound board, speakers, lighting board, and the installation of a hearing loop system for patrons with hearing impairments.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public May 11. Special ticket pre-sales for DCA VIPs begin May 4. Audience members who plan on attending multiple shows may be interested in becoming season subscribers (subscribers receive VIP ticket processing and save 10 percent on tickets for all events throughout the season).
