Nasewaupee Still Seeking Clerk

After a month of advertising Nasewaupee’s town clerk vacancy, no one has applied for the part-time position, said Jill Lau, town supervisor and acting clerk, during the June 15 town board meeting.

“I am at a loss,” said Lau, who served previously as the town’s elected clerk before the position was changed to an appointed position following the spring general election in April.

Donna Wolak, a Nasewaupee resident who was appointed clerk this spring, submitted her resignation two weeks after beginning the position, stating that the clerk role is a “full-time job which I cannot fulfill and do what is needed for the town.”

Town chair Steve Sullivan said he would contact someone he didn’t name to see whether that person would be interested.

With the clerk’s position changed from elected to appointed, being a Town of Nasewaupee resident is no longer required.
