New Art Piece Commemorates DCMC’s 75th Anniversary

Door County Medical Center (DCMC) fêted its 75th anniversary Oct. 29 by unveiling a three-dimensional commemorative art piece. President and CEO Brian Stephens presented creator Lawrence Romorini’s artistic reflection of DCMC’s history, people, growth and accomplishments, which is installed in the lobby of the hospital’s headquarters.

Romorini’s free-form design suggests water, the sun and the natural beauty of the rural area that DCMC serves. Three major structures – containing 100-plus miniature photos, publications and small items – chronicle the hospital’s milestones since its founding in 1944. A timeline, engraved in brass, provides additional insights. Photographer Jim Perry’s colorful nature photos show off the county’s magnificent scenery.

“I was especially inspired by the opportunity to create unique art that celebrates the story of this rural community, its people and the natural beauty that defines it,” Romorini said. “I hope this 75th-anniversary art will continue to communicate and fascinate for years to come.”
