Cappaert Contemporary Gallery carefully curates a selection of artists who are passionate about their process. Joining the gallery in 2017 is artist Mara Manning, a Michigan resident and recently retired art teacher who is now using her creative energy in her own artwork.
Manning’s current work is done in oils working with encaustic and mixed media because it allows her to explore a richness in layers and textures. Her paintings have a richness and saturation found in works from the Baroque period of Dutch painting. Manning’s current series gravitates toward a simple house shape to conjure a feeling of place for the artist and the viewer.
“I have followed Mara’s work for many years and I am excited to welcome her to my gallery. I love her new series and the suggestion of home as place,” said Ginnie Cappaert.
