New Owners Add New Items at The Spoon

Karen Wannemaker and Anthony Sikora – the new owners of what had been The Frozen Spoon, 210 S. 1st Ave. in Sturgeon Bay – have begun to make the business their own with a new name, new menu items, an updated interior and exterior, and new signage arriving soon. The couple purchased the frozen-yogurt business in February and changed the name to The Spoon to better reflect their broader menu and to give the business an updated look.

In addition to the self-serve frozen-yogurt options, The Spoon serves a diverse selection of wraps, sandwiches, salads and specialty pizzas for lunch and dinner.

“We kept a lot of the same items that customers really loved, but we have added some of our own new items,” Wannemaker said. Those include The Earl, an “adult grilled cheese”; the 2720 Salad, a more healthful salad with teriyaki-marinated chicken and shaved beef; and two specialty pizzas: the Chickalo and the Floridian. Other new options include gluten-free pizza crust and a wide selection of flavored sparkling waters.

The Spoon has also started featuring from-scratch tacos on Monday nights at the restaurant, and on Saturday nights from a vendor tent at the weekly Under the Stars Night Market on 3rd Avenue. Wannamaker and Sikora plan to keep shifting their menu throughout the seasons – they will be open year-round – and to eventually add coffee options.
