Obituary: Barbara Kenyon

Barbara Kenyon of Fish Creek died Aug. 29 peacefully with her family close by after an 11-year battle with cancer. She was born on January 18, 1939 in Chicago to Helen and Henry. Barbara attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago and spent 38 years as a graphic designer. She honed her oil and watercolor skills during free time, taking art classes and workshops with many well-known artists. She married Robert Kenyon on July 16, 1960 and they raised two children. She and Bob enjoyed camping, traveling and painting in Door County over the years, so it seemed appropriate that they retired there.

Barbara is survived by her husband Bob; daughter Sharon (Michael); grandson Mackenzie; son Raymond (David); brother Dennis; nephews Dan (Cindy) and David (Tina); niece Lynn; sisters-in-law Fae and Rae, cousins, and great nephews and nieces. Her many neighbors and friends in the Door County Art League will miss her and remember her sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held September 6th, at 11 a.m. at Stella Maris Parish in Fish Creek. A reception will follow afterwards at Alexander’s. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Door Cancer, Inc. (www.doorcancer.com). Special thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses at Ministry Door County Medical Center and Unity Hospice-especially Dr. Jaslowski, nurses Cindy and Chris-who were always there to give comfort and care.
