Obituary: Cheryl J. Johnson

Sept. 15, 1963 – Feb. 25, 2024

Cheryl Jeanne Johnson, 60, of Forestville, died on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, surrounded by loved ones.

Cheryl was born Sept. 15, 1963, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Herbert and JoAnn (Stelter) Johnson. She was a 1981 graduate of Green Bay West High School and a 1983 graduate of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where she studied police science. Cheryl moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1991 where she began her career in loss prevention. Cheryl’s work in this field would span nearly twenty years and multiple states. Cheryl remembered her time in loss prevention at Younker’s most fondly and befriended coworkers there with whom she remained in touch over the years. She worked in customer service at Pick ’n Save and as an administrative assistant for Northeast Wisconsin Transportation Services, before retiring in 2019.

In her lifetime, Cheryl greatly enjoyed cooking and baking, spending time with family, friends, and her dogs, whom she loved dearly. Cheryl treasured her time with her grandsons and loved being their grandma, never missing an opportunity to let them know how much they meant to her. Cheryl will be remembered as a spunky and vivacious woman with a heart of gold. She was an incredibly caring person who was eager to help others in need, enjoyed scary movies and musical theater alike, and found great pleasure in a good mani/pedi. We will miss her home-cooked meals, sense of humor, brightly colored nails, and the way the ASPCA commercials always tugged at her heartstrings. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and JoAnn Johnson.

She is survived by her partner of fifteen years Leanne LaCrosse of Forestville; sons, Jordan Rein of Wausau, Brent LaCrosse of Forestville, and Cody (Becky) LaCrosse of Sturgeon Bay; brother, Darrell (Sharon) Johnson of Wausau; sister, Kathy (Jim) Knippel of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Debbie (Steve) Braunsdorf of Suamico, her nieces, nephews, and grandsons.

In accordance with Cheryl’s wishes, no immediate funeral services are planned. A celebration of life will be hosted by her family (TBD). Forbes Funeral Home of Sturgeon Bay is assisting the family. On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
