Obituary: James A. Sokolowski

James A. Sokolowski, 86, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of Emily and Harry Sokolowski. After graduation from Riverside High School in Milwaukee, Jim enrolled in State Teachers College. Soon after his enrollment, he was drafted and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He entered into a lifetime of service to others as a firefighter for the Milwaukee Fire Department. On April 30, 1977, Jim married the love of his life, Carol. After retirement, Jim and Carol settled in Door County. Jim joined the Kiwanis of Northern Door, serving a term as president. He was active in the Ephraim Moravian Church. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his son, Paul. A memorial service will be held at Ephraim Moravian Church on Saturday, March 31, at 11 am with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Help of Door County or Ephraim Moravian Church.
