Obituary: Joyce Marie Weckler

Joyce Marie Weckler, 84, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on April 2, 2017, at Anna’s Healthcare.  She was born on August 24, 1932, in Sturgeon Bay to Frank and Neva (DeJardin) Brauer.  Her father bought a farm in Little Sturgeon and there they settled and farmed.  She had two sons by her first marriage, she then married John Weckler. They were married going on 31 years when the Lord called John home.  Joyce loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, gardening, and canning.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Barbara) Riederer, Sturgeon Bay; David (Mary) Riederer, Wausau; two grandchildren, Dayna (Nathan) Miller, Muskego; Aaron Riederer, Wausau; four great-grandchildren, Braden, Benjamin, Emily, and Parker; two step-children, Charmaine Peterman, Alabama; and Scott Weckler, Las Vegas; two brothers-in-law, Harold Plagens Florida; and Stanley LaViolette, Sturgeon Bay.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jerome Riederer, and John Weckler; twin sister, Jean LaViolette; sisters, June Plagens and Betty (Vernon) Destree.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 Thursday, April 6, 2017, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels with Rev. Ron Colombo and Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating.  Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Thursday.  A rosary service will be held at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
