Obituary: Roland “Rolie” H. Daubner

Feb. 15, 1931 – Sept. 9, 2019 

Roland “Rolie” Henry Daubner, 88, formerly of Ellison Bay, died at the home of his son in Green Bay following congestive heart failure.

Rolie was born at home in Ephraim, the son of Aloysius and Mayme (Smith) Daubner. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. Rolie retired from Procter & Gamble as a supervisor in production following many years of employment. He enjoyed the outdoors and moved to Mountain, where he enjoyed hunting.

He married Virginia Mae Marcel in 1991. Roland was part of the Crivitz Lions Club and various veterans’ organizations throughout the years.

He will be missed by his wife, Virginia Daubner of Green Bay; son, Randy (friend, Gabriel Gomez) of Green Bay; daughter, Susan Bergwin of Missouri; three grandsons, Nicholas and Thomas Daubner, and Drew (Raquel) Bergwin; daughter-in-law, Lisa Daubner of Green Bay; sister, Rita (Ken) Joly of Sturgeon Bay; and other relatives.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Stella Maris Parish in Sister Bay, with Fr. Thomas Farrell as celebrant. Military honors by the U.S. Army and the Billy Weiss American Legion Post 527 will follow at the church. Rolie will be laid to rest in St. Rosalia Catholic Cemetery in Sister Bay.

Friends may call at the church Sept. 18, 8:30-10:15 am.

Memorials may be given in Rolie’s memory to the American Legion Post 527 or VFW Post 3088.
