Obituary: Sandra Kaye Scott-Cota

April 22, 1949 ~ December 17, 2021

Sandra Kaye Scott-Cota, 72, of the Town of Forestville, died in the comfort of her home, early Friday morning, December 17, 2021 with family at her side.

She was born April 22, 1949 in Standish, MI, the daughter of Bob J and June (Cremeans) Scott. Sandy attended Tawas Area High School in Iosco County, MI and graduated in 1972.

She moved to Door County, WI in 1980 and resided in the Town of Sevastopol. Sandy was employed with various Sturgeon Bay area businesses over years, initially as part of the administrative staff at Dorco Manufacturing. After Dorco, she went to school to earn her real estate license and worked for Glesner Realty in Sturgeon Bay. After she left Glesner Realty, Sandy worked as a planker at Peterson Builders, Inc. (PBI). When PBI closed, she was a manager at Glidden Lodge, and during that time, met David Earl Cota. They were united in marriage on September 9, 1995 at the family home on Washington Island.

Sandy attended Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. She battled cancer for over 12 years and found through that time being a member of a cancer support group, she could help others. Sandy enjoyed belonging to the Bitters Club through Nelsen’s Hall on Washington Island. She was an avid quilter and sewer and even made face masks and headbands for local hospitals and healthcare workers during COVID. Sandy was very passionate about hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. Above all, she loved her family and spending time her grandchildren. Sandy attended every event possible for her grandchildren, from sporting events to graduations to birthday parties.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, David; children, Michelle (Scott) Paschke of the Town of Sevastopol [and children, Matthew (Courtney Sacotte) Kinjerski, Amanda (Chris) Ahsoak, and Brody (Kristen Kopp) and Bryson (Madison Tesnow) Paschke], James (Tina) Wunning of Forestville, Barbara (Bob Ellenbecker) Glesner of Bellevue [and children, Subrina (Julio) Ramirez, Taylor (Kaleb Timm) Glesner, Ethan Glesner (Nessa Cousineau), and Michael Wehausen], and Justina (Shane) Walschinski of Brussels [and children, Justin Kroening, Rebecca Cookle, and Isabell and Abby Walschinski]; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Julio, Mila, Emilia (on the way), Bristol (on the way), Braxton, Vanessa and Nevaeh; mother, June Scott of Tawas City; sister, Patty (Sam) Spriggs of Tawas City, MI; mother-in-law, Marion Cota of Escanaba, MI; siblings-in-law, Rosemary (Neil) Gauthier of Saint Augustine, FL, Dan Cota of Green Bay, Dawn Perkins of Dixon, MO, Susan (Gary) Plante of Garden, MI, Bonnie (Willie) Nelson of Rapid River, MI; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Bob Scott; sisters, Terri Simmons and Barbie Scott; sister-in-law, Linda Cota; and other relatives.

Her family will have a celebration of her life at a later date.
