Obituary: William (Bill) Duquaine

William (Bill) Duquaine, 73, of Fish Creek, died Nov 7, 2016 .

Visitation will be at 10 am on Nov. 19, 2016 at Stella Maris Parish in Fish Creek.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am at Stella Maris Parish in Fish Creek with Father Dave Ruby officiating. Burial will follow at Blossomberg Cemetery. Arrangements are by Casperson Funeral Home.

William was born in Sturgeon Bay to Elmer Duquaine and Rhoda Fairchild on Nov. 2, 1943. He was a graduate of Gibraltar High School in the town of Fish Creek. In his long career, he has worked as a body shop technician, mechanic, and as a bus driver working for the very schools he attended. He was dedicated to the safety of “His Kids” and delighted in being part of their developing lives. Bill was also a serviceman in the US Navy, first as a corpsman (Navy medic), and later as a “SeaBee”, or construction battalion (CB). He retired as a 1st Class Petty Officer from the Naval Reserve after 20 years of service. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 527.

William spent many hours in his gardens, only to be grateful for the opportunity to welcome friends, family and anyone else to share in the harvest. He was always available to help fix any problem in his shop, or just to sit and visit, always making people feel welcome.

William is preceded in death by his Mother and Father and longtime partner Theresa Freeman.

William is survived by sons Bradford Duquaine, Scott (Kathy) Duquaine and Luke (Elizabeth) Duquaine, as well as his brothers and sisters, Gerald (Dori) Duquaine, Elaine (Al) Older, Beatrice (Michael) Colwell, Mary Frea and Wallace (Debra) Duquaine. He also had four grandchildren Hannah, Jakob, Alexandria and William, all Duquaine’s, and extended family Dan (Michelle) Freeman, Melissa Freeman, Joshua and Ashley Freeman as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was also survived by his special friend, Cathy Henry, who had given him a new-found happiness in life.
