Old Meets New at Meadows Gallery

During the first five years of Meadows Art Gallery, only Door County artists have been shown. This is the direction and mission of the Meadows Gallery. Last month’s show was Old Guard, in a collection of artists who helped start the gallery. This month, the Meadows will feature newer artists to the gallery in a show titled New Guard. A mix of last month’s exhibited art will blend with the work in this month’s exhibit.

Tom Seagard, curator of Meadows Art Gallery, is excited at this prospect. He said, “The Meadows has featured and will feature art forms not normally exhibited in art shows. We get a chance to see all kinds of art at once with these shows blended together.”

Artists in this exhibit are: Mary Blichmann (sandblasting on stone and glass, as well as painting); Ethel Davis (pastels incorporating her poetry); Jen Gaddes (clothing design and knitwear); Karen Sandstrom (hardanger and wooden construction); Madonna Siles (oil pastel); Arlene Stanger (photography); Steve Stanger (photography); and Betts Williams (paintings).

The reception for this exhibit is Sept. 8, 2 – 4:30 pm. Come and meet the artists, have a glass of wine and celebrate the Meadows’ fifth season. October will start their 6th year with a show of photography by Dennis Connolly.

The gallery is located at Scandia Village in Sister Bay. Go to the main entrance, enter under the portico, turn right at the main hallway and there’s the gallery. For more information, call 920.854.4416 of 920.854.2317.
