Open Call for Artists

The Hardy Gallery announced that canvases for the 2011 Community Mosaic Project are available. The project is an innovative community art project involving the creation of 300-plus small works of art in nearly every medium imaginable.

The concept behind the Community Mosaic Project, which was first launched in 2008, was to raise awareness of the arts and to provide the non-profit organization with funds through the sale of the miniature artworks. The project is displayed in July and August, in conjunction with the Hardy’s annual Collection Invitational exhibit, and consists, on average, of 300 6” x 6” canvases.

The Hardy has again teamed up with Sturgeon Bay’s Premiere Winsor & Newton Art Centre, Artists Guild LLC, to provide a free canvas for any individual who is interested in participating. In addition, participants must complete an Artist Statement Form that will accompany the finished piece. Canvases must be returned on or before Monday, June 27, 2011.

Participants interested in obtaining a canvas for the 2011 Community Mosaic Project are encouraged to stop at one of the following participating distribution locations: The Artists Guild, located at 117 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, the Hardy Gallery located on Anderson Dock in Ephraim (after May 15), the Hardy office located at 3065 Anderson Lane in Ephraim, and the Mill Road Gallery located at 2328 Mill Road in Sister Bay.
