Open Mic Hour at Peninsula School of Art’s Salon Party

The Guenzel Gallery Salon exhibition at Peninsula School of Art marks its 12th year with a free public party on Jan. 18 from 6 to 9 pm.

This year, the Salon party will introduce an open mic hour from 7 to 8 pm. Nick Hoover, who will perform with fellow singer/songwriter Jess Holland during the Salon party, will act as master of ceremonies for the open mic entertainment. Those interested in singing need only sign up at the door the night of the party.

“The open mic hour is a tribute to the early salons in France, where all art forms were honored,” says Kay McKinley, Director of Marketing and Exhibitions. “We thought it fitting to provide an outlet for the many talented singers who reside in Door County and Wisconsin overall.”

As in past years, the Salon party celebrates the work of participating artists with live music, refreshments and People’s Choice Awards. Through public ballot, four works are chosen for First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Awards. The Salon party closes the two-week Guenzel Gallery Salon exhibit. About 200 two- and three-dimensional works will be on display for sale during the Salon, running Jan. 4 – 18.
