Overhead and Shout Outs: July 27, 2018

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“If you don’t hurt your knuckles in the process you’re not doing it right.”

“So, is a blue raspberry like a sad raspberry? And if it is, why is it sad?”

“No, that’s not fair. You have to let me win sometimes.”

“Who would invite that type of volatile instability into their life?” ~ Speaking about deciding on a cat as a pet

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

Shout out to the very nice man who paid for my latte at The Chocolate Chicken and refused to let me pay him back.

To Michael Ahrens of Egg Harbor, who stepped up to help an officer direct traffic and keep cyclists and motorists safe during the Door County Triathlon July 15.

“A big shout-out to Door County visitors Mauri and George from Kansas City, Kansas. They volunteered at Matthew House Thrift Shop July 18, and they were a tremondous help. Apparently they overheard me talking to someone about needing volunteers, and Mauri stepped up to the counter and said she and her husband would like to help. They just made the day!” ~ Marilyn Friz-Beyer
