Overheard and Shout Outs: Dec. 23, 2015

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“What’s this little shower cap doing on my desk?”

“You don’t want to kiss me. I don’t even know you.”

“Obama is probably the reason I didn’t get my Easy-Bake Oven when I was 5.”

“Step, shuffle, salute, krunk shake. That’s how I dance to the National Anthem.”

“Hitting on your host’s wife helps to build camaraderie.”

“Everyone would’ve done better as a chubby little pug.”

“Hopefully she gets half his tan in the divorce.”

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

A shout-out to everyone who came out to Peninsula Publishing & Distribution’s sixth annual holiday open house! We hope you had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful music, food, drinks and company.

Shout-out to the musicians and organizers of the Play It Forward for the Holidays event at Door Community Auditorium last weekend!

A pat on the back to my sister, Abby (a former intern at Second Story Restaurant and baker at Bayside Bakery) for earning her culinary degree from Fox Valley Technical College this month. I am so proud of you! ~ Alyssa Skiba

A shout-out to the theater, music and other organizations that create special events during the winter for Door County locals who can’t always make it to their regular season events during the summer. It’s great to see everyone have the chance to take in a show or performance!
