Peninsula Singers Hold Pair of Christmas Concerts Dec. 10 & 11

The Peninsula Singers will perform their 37th annual Christmas concerts at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church on Dec. 10 at 7 pm and again at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek at 3 pm on Dec. 11.

Artistic Director Merle Colburn opens this year’s concert with the rousing “The Sleighby Richard Kountz, contrasted by “Winter’s Heart” by Mark Hayes, then Linda Spevacek’s “And the Angels Sing.” “The Shepherd’s Chorus” from Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti showcases the choir’s male soloists, while John Leavitt’s Cantata “Hodie” includes the beautiful “O Magnum Mysterium” sung by the women. Assistant Artistic Director Martha Ranek leads “Keep Your Lamps,” a spiritual arranged by Andre Thomas. The concerts will also include audience sing-alongs of familiar carols.

The Peninsula Singers have been rehearsing since September to bring their gift of choral music to the community. Contributions to support the nonprofit organization are gratefully accepted. For more information visit ThePeninsulaSingers.org.
