Pesticide Application Training Class

A Private Pesticide Applicator Training class will be held on Thursday, March 5. This class is intended for anyone requiring certification or re-certification in order to apply restricted-use pesticides. Examples of private applicators include a farmer applying pesticides to his crops on his owned or rented land or an employee of that farmer doing the same; greenhouse or nursery workers making pesticide applications on the land or in the greenhouses of their employer. Certification is good for five years.
You have the choice of either attending a classroom training or self-study. The classroom session will be held Thursday, March 5, 9 am to approximately 3:30 pm, in the 1st floor Peninsula Room of the Government Center, 421 Nebraska St., Sturgeon Bay.
If you plan to attend this classroom session, you need to purchase the manual at the UW-Extension office by February 26. The cost for the pesticide manual is $30, payable to UW-Extension (cash or check only – no credit cards). The open book exam will start after the classroom training. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm, 920.746.2260.
If Door County’s class doesn’t fit your schedule, Kewaunee County’s training will be 9 am Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Kewaunee County Highway Dept., E4280 County F (Footbridge). To register, contact the Kewaunee County Office at 920.388.7141.
If you prefer to take the exam without attending the classroom session, you still need to purchase the manual ($30) at least one week in advance and set up a time to take the exam at the Extension office. This exam is also open book, but requires a higher score for passing.
