PFLAG Hosts Movie Screening

PFLAG Door County is proud to sponsor a screening of For The Bible Tells Me So produced by the Human Rights Campaign (www.hrc.org). The showing will be February 28 at 1:30 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay. A brief listening and discussion session will follow.

For the Bible Tells Me So is the winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival and Nominee for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Dan Karslake’s provocative, entertaining documentary brilliantly reconciles gay and lesbian sexuality and Biblical scripture and in the process he reveals that Church-sanctioned anti-GLBT bias is based almost solely upon a significant (and often malicious) misinterpretation of the Bible.

Karslake offers a compelling story about the real lives of families with gay and lesbian sons and daughters, and how they have reconciled their faith with love for their children. Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay or lesbian child. For The Bible Tells Me So offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.
