PMF Scholarship Recipient

The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) has selected Josefa Kielar, senior at Southern Door High School, as the recipient of their college scholarship. She will attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, this fall. Each year the Peninsula Music Festival awards a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. Kielar will be honored at the Aug. 16 concert of the Peninsula Music Festival.

“This is the fourth year in a row that the scholarship recipient has come from the Southern Door School District,” said PMF Executive Director Sharon Grutzmacher. “The quality of the music students from Southern Door has been very impressive to everyone involved in the selection process.”

In her application essay, Kielar highlights her longstanding participation in musical activities including receiving a varsity letter in band her freshman year. She volunteers in the community, participated in sports and maintained an A/B average.

The Peninsula Music Festival is a professional symphony orchestra presenting nine different symphonic concerts in three weeks each August. The 62nd Symphonic Season runs Aug. 5 – 23 with concerts every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For information call 920.854.4060 or visit musicfestival.com.
