Recipients of the 2017 Herb Kohl Foundation Awards Announced

The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholarship, Fellowship, and Leadership Program has announced recipients of the 2017 Herb Kohl Foundation awards for students, teachers, and principals. Awards in the amount of $3,000 are being made to 100 teachers, 16 principals, and their schools, and $5,000 scholarships will be given to 207 graduating high school students.

Excellence Scholarship recipients, including Isaiah Spetz of Sevastopol High School and Nathan Surges of Gibraltar High School, have displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

Initiative Scholarship recipients, including Lexis Joly of Sevastopol High School, were chosen by their schools and have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships.

A regional recognition luncheon will be held April 22 at Red Smith School, 2765 Sussex Road, Green Bay. The reception starts at noon and the luncheon at 12:30 pm. Herb Kohl will attend all luncheons and present awards to recipients.
