Ridges Reads Selects Next Title

The Ridges Sanctuary announced its next selection for the Ridges Reads book club, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

Kimmerer is a botanist who has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of The Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that other living beings – asters and goldenrod, salamanders, algae and sweetgrass – offer us gifts and lessons.

Book club discussions are held every three weeks, and cover one of the five sections in the book. Virtual discussions take place via Zoom on Tuesdays, 6-8 pm. In person discussions take place Thursdays, 6-8 pm, at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center. Registration is recommended and available for both program formats either as a package or for individual dates.

The newly released Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults as well as the original Braiding Sweetgrass are available at the Ridges Nature Store.
