Schoolroom Lessons Provide a Peek into the Past

Would you like to be part of a day in the life of Ephraim’s Pioneer Schoolhouse? The Ephraim Historical Foundation is excited to announce a new program series for the 2016 season. Schoolroom Lessons will be held each Tuesday in July promptly at 11 am in the Pioneer Schoolhouse Museum (9998 Moravia Street in Ephraim). This program is free and open to all ages.

Schoolroom Lessons will allow visitors to experience class in a one-room schoolhouse as it was in the 1920s and 1930s. Students today might be surprised to learn that a chalkboard was once used instead of pencil and paper or that citizenship was one of the subjects taught at the Pioneer Schoolhouse.

The Pioneer Schoolhouse was built in 1880 and used until 1949. The Ephraim Foundation (now the Ephraim Historical Foundation) was founded in 1949 to preserve this building. For more information contact Emily Irwin at [email protected] or call 920.854.9688.
