Sculptures, Oil Paintings On Display At Fine Line

Fine Line Designs Gallery’s Exhibit II will open July 6, with an opening reception set for 4-6:30 pm. The featured artists – sculptor Stephanie Evans and oil painters Pamela Murphy and Debra Reid Jenkins – will be on hand to talk to guests about their work. Exhibit II will be on display through Aug. 7.

Using the form of the dress, Evans explores the stories of the dress wearer through the use of objects, reliefs and textures. She works from photographs for references and looks at vintage and modern dresses for inspiration to tell the tale of an imagined wearer’s thoughts and desires.

Murphy began collecting old photographs when she discovered an abundance of them at a garage sale. Since then, these vintage pieces have provided a stream of inspiration for her work. She wants the subjects in these photographs to live on in a repurposed way, so she uses the figures from the images as her “models.”

Jenkins trained in portraiture, which led to children’s book and magazine illustration, and she now combines her training with plein air to offer a different approach to a typical landscape. The results are canvases that are more like doorways than objects on a wall. Jenkins has been juried into several international maritime-museum exhibitions, and her work has appeared in art publications.
