Ski for Free, Beekeeping, Fish Tales Lectures at Crossroads

The Ski for Free program at Crossroads at Big Creek will continue Feb. 22, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm; and Feb. 23, 1-3:30 pm. Crossroads and Door County Silent Sports lend, free of charge, an array of ski and snowshoe equipment in sizes to fit age three through large adults. When trail conditions permit, go to the Crossroads maintenance building, where volunteers will fit you with equipment. Check crossroadsatbigcreek.org for trail conditions and cancellations.

The Door County Beekeepers Club will meet Feb. 25, 6:30 pm, in the Collins Learning Center’s lecture hall. The program will be “Prepping for Spring Beekeeping.” Visitors are welcome. 

The Fish Tales lectures will continue Feb. 27, 7 pm, with “The Risk and Possible Prevention of Asian Carp Getting into Lake Michigan” by John Dettmers, director of fisheries management at the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

The Collins Learning Center, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, is open weekdays, 10 am – 4 pm; weekends, 1-3:30 pm; and during scheduled activities. Trails are free and open to the public 24/7. The Collins Learning Center will close, and activities will be canceled, if Sturgeon Bay schools close.
