Southern Door Announces 2021-22 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Brandon Kaczmarek has been named the 2021-22 valedictorian for Southern Door High School, with Kaylee Griep as the salutatorian.

Kaczmarek, son of Jean and Tom Kaczmarek, will attend Fox Valley Technical College in the fall to pursue an associate degree in firefighting. After college, he would like to join a career fire department in northeastern Wisconsin. 

Throughout his high school career, Kaczmarek has participated in football, band, solo and ensemble, student council, Brett Buhr archery club, middle school tutoring, community fab lab class and prom court. He has completed more than 40 hours of community service, is a member of the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department, and maintained a position on the high honor roll every semester of his high school career. 

Outside of school, Kaczmarek enjoys the outdoors, working in the woods and spending time with his family.

Griep, daughter of Jody and Greg Griep, plans to attend UW-Madison to major in business law on the pre-law track. 

Throughout high school, she has been involved in extracurricular activities such as the National Honor Society (vice president), class president, student council (vice president), school board student representative, varsity cross-country, cheer and pom dance team, Badger Girls State, Project 180, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and forensics (president), through which she earned a gold medal at the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association state competition, all while maintaining a spot on the high honor roll every semester of her high school career.

Outside of school, she competed in the Miss Door County Pageant, earned the title of Miss Door County’s Outstanding Teen and advanced to compete in the Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen competition.
