Southern Door Formula High School Race Team Wins at Elkhart Lake

The Southern Door Formula High School race team earned Best Overall Team Time and Fastest Drivers in the two divisions entered – stock and modified at the Elkhart Lake, Road America competition on May 9 & 10, 2016. The team top driver in the stock class was Reed Charles, and Jed Ring had the hottest lap in the modified car.

Now in the district’s third year with the Formula program, the students concentrated on redesigning the drivetrain of the modified car for better performance. The stock car was given mostly minor tweaks. For the upcoming year the team plans to start an all-new frame design.
