Southern Door, Sevastopol Spikers Advance to WIAA Regional Finals

Two Door County girls volleyball teams will be playing for WIAA regional championships Saturday after winning their semifinal matches.
In Division 3, No. 5-seeded Southern Door dropped the first two sets Thursday before pulling out a five-set victory at No. 4-seeded Manitowoc Lutheran, 17-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-13.
The Eagles’ statistical leaders included Kendra Shimon: 5 aces, 16 kills, 9 digs; Allianna Dufek: 9 blocks, 7 kills; Paige Olson: 10 kills; Greta Gutschow: 25 digs; and Alaina Shimon: 36 assists, 4 kills, 3 aces.
Southern Door will play at top-seeded Howards Grove for the regional title.
In Division 4, No. 3-seeded Sevastopol dropped the first set Thursday before winning its home regional semifinal match in four sets over No. 6-seeded Cambria-Friesland, 23-25, 25-5, 25-14, 25-14.
The Pioneers’ statistical leaders included Johanna Andreae: 23 kills, 10 digs; Bailey Rikkola: 24 digs, 9 aces; Emma Stueber: 34 assists, 5 aces, 13 digs.
Sevastopol will play its regional title game at No.2-seeded Central Wisconsin Christian.
The regional winners advance to the sectional semifinals Oct. 27.
