Strivers Gymnasts Return to Action

The Door County YMCA Strivers gymnastics team has returned to competition after a 15-month, pandemic-driven hiatus.

Thirteen Strivers gymnasts recently competed at the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Kimberly, Wisconsin, and they returned home with 23 individual-event medals.

X-Cel Silver gymnasts placed fourth in the team competition, and individuals earned medals as well: Keira Wesley placed first on floor; Evelyn Kelsey took fourth on floor; and Shaylyn Asher came home with second on floor and beam, third on vault and all-around, and fourth on bars. 

X-Cel Gold gymnasts placed third as a team. Amelia Zoschke took first on beam and bars and second in all-around. Anna Gallardo-Ibarra placed fourth on vault, bars and all-around, and third on floor. Portia Hah placed second on bars, and Alexa Jimenes-Seyfer took second on floor. Jozlynn Burlo placed fifth on vault and beam.

Level 6 gymnast Amira Anschutz placed second on beam and fifth on floor, and Julia Gregory earned fourth on floor, bars and all-around. The team finished sixth.
