Sturgeon Bay Annual Shipyard Tour

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay will present the 20th annual Sturgeon Bay Shipyard Tours on May 5 from 9 am – 2 pm.

This tour will provide a view of the Sturgeon Bay shipbuilding industry that has for over a century been critical to Door County’s economy. The shipbuilders of Sturgeon Bay have designed, built and repaired vessels that have traveled to ports around the globe.

Three facilities will participate including Bay Shipbuilding, Palmer Johnson Yachts, and Great Lakes Yacht Services. Guided walking tours are offered at Bay Shipbuilding and Great Lakes Yacht Services, while self guided walking tours are available at Palmer Johnson Yachts.

The Rotary Club has again arranged for the 140-foot USCG cutter Mobile Bay to be open for guided tours free of charge at the Graham Park dock in Sturgeon Bay from 9 am – 2 pm.

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay helps organize this annual tour. All proceeds from the event benefit local youth programs, projects, and activities.

Tickets will be available at all three shipyard entry gates. Prices are $12 for adults, $6 for students, and free for children. A ticket also lets attendees receive 50 percent off on admission to the Door County Maritime Museum, including access to John Purves, the restored tug.
