Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair’s Winners

The 17th annual Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair took place Memorial Day weekend, May 23 and 24, at Sunset Park in Sturgeon Bay. Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive Director of the Miller Art Museum, and Julia Bresnahan served as the judges for this year’s event. A total of 17 awards were given throughout the weekend with Daniel Jara of Sheboygan receiving Best of Show for his jewelry. The award for First Place Two-Dimensional art was received by Gail McCoy of Sun Prairie, with Karen DeNoto and Lauretta Kelley of Sturgeon Bay taking home the award for Second Place Two-Dimensional art. Eileen McDaniel of Wautoma received the award for First Place Three-Dimensional art, and Nancy Briggs of Des Moines received the award for Second Place Three-Dimensional art.

Honorable mention awards were received by: Audrey Christie, Brendan & Cathy Curran, Ilze Heider, Jeanette Payne, Carole Osburne, Jill Tortorella, Arthur Bartkowiak, Stacey Small Rupp, Bridget Bruneau and Frank Kudla.

Jessie Fritsch of Stevens Point received the Ministry Door County Medical Center (MDCMC) purchase award for her beeswax painting titled, “MREA Sunset.” The painting will go on display at the MDCMC Occupational Health and Wellness Clinic. Jill Tortorella received the People’s Choice Award for her pottery.
