Sturgeon Bay Hotel Mediation Date Still Unkown

Last week Sturgeon Bay westside waterfront hotel developer Bob Papke said Rep. Joel Kitchens would serve as mediator between the City of Sturgeon Bay and the Friends of the Sturgeon Bay Public Waterfront to come up with a new hotel site.

That was after the Feb. 10 ruling by Judge Raymond Huber that the parcel of land originally planned for the hotel is in the public trust and, therefore, cannot be sold to a private developer. Papke was hoping for an expedited mediation so his contractors could begin work in March. However, Kitchens told the Pulse on Feb. 21 that the two parties have yet to agree on a meeting date.
