“Super 8” at Door Community Auditorium

On Jan. 20 and 21, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will provide the second installment of its 2012 lecture and movie screening series. Both events are free to the public, though freewill donations are appreciated.

The 2011 film hit Super 8 will play at 7 pm on Jan. 20. In Super 8, which is set in 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash and soon suspect that it was not an accident.

Upcoming Movies at the Door will screen Rabbit-Proof Fence on Feb. 18 and The Ideas of March on March 2. Movies at the Door are sponsored by The English Inn and Hart & Hart Ladies Apparel & Sterling Silver Jewelry.

On Jan. 21 at 9 am, the DCA’s Distinguished Lecture series will present a lecture entitled “Biblical Scholarship: Interpretation in the Academy,” given by Dr. Thomas M. Bolin, associate professor of Religious Studies at St. Norbert College. Dr. Bolin will offer a brief history of academic biblical scholarship, describe how it is presently undertaken, and point out the importance of scholarly biblical study for the believer and non-believer alike. Refreshments will be available for sale by Base Camp Coffee Bar of Sister Bay.

The St. Norbert Distinguished Lectures are sponsored by Dahl Law Firm and Ross Estate Planning with in-kind advertising and lodging support provided by AppleCreek Resort, DoorCountyDailyNews.com, Homestead Suites and Landmark Resort.

The DCA box office, located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, is open Monday – Friday from 12 – 5 pm. For more information stop by the box office, call 920.868.2728, or visit http://www.dcauditorium.org.
