In recognition of its 15th season and its old-fashioned pie-making tradition, Sweetie Pies announces its Fourth Annual High Roller Contest. Artists from near and far are challenged to come up with original and creative work on the mundane theme of a rolling pin.

Their works will then be displayed in the shop from May to October. Votes are cast by visitors from May through August, with the winners being announced on Labor Day. The public is also invited to participate in a silent auction of the works on display.

“In the past, we’ve had a wide variety of works – some functional using actual rolling pins and some that could only roll out pie dough in their creators’ dreams,” comments Cathy Mazurek, Sweetie Pies co-owner. “There have been some comical, some ornate and some absolutely exquisite entries,” she continues. “We look forward to this year’s exhibit!”

Entry forms and instructions for the contest are available at local artist supply shops and some local galleries. Artists may also download forms from the Sweetie Pies website: http://www.sweetiepies.us. Entries will be accepted between April 2 and May 3 and will go on display May 7 at Sweetie Pies, located at 9106 Highway 42, south of Fish Creek at the Settlement Shops.
