Tachovsky to Discuss ’40 Thieves On Saipan’

The Door County Historical Museum will host – and local author Joseph Tachovsky will present – an author talk and book signing Oct. 7, 4 pm.

Tachovsky, with Cynthia Kraack, is the author of 40 Thieves on Saipan: The Elite Marine Scout-Snipers in One of WWII’s Bloodiest Battles. His father, Frank Tachovsky, led a decorated platoon during the critical Battle of Saipan during WWII before going on to become Sturgeon Bay’s mayor and postmaster. Tachovsky will share his father’s story, placing his heroism in the larger contexts of the war and the Door County community.

Novel Bay Booksellers will have copies of the new paperback release available during the free program. Learn more about the museum at co.door.wi.gov/166/Museum or by calling 920.743.5809.
